Specific Responsibilities Would Include

The Vice President of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) at Centric Brands plays a strategic and leadership role within the company, focusing on defining and integrating ESG principles into the organization’s operations and culture. This role will report directly to the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and will manage a team of approximately ten (10) professionals covering sustainability, social responsibility and product safety functions. Some key responsibilities and roles associated with this position include:

  • Strategic and Thought Leadership: Develop and implement the company’s ESG strategy, aligning it with overall business objectives and stakeholder expectations. This includes strategically assessing various objectives, setting short-term and longer-term goals and creating a roadmap for achieving them.
  • Policy Development: Create and enforce policies related to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and governance practices. Ensure these policies comply with evolving regulations and industry standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage with various stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees, supply chain partners, NGOs and community groups. Effectively advocate and communicate the company’s ESG initiatives and performance, and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Reporting and Disclosure: Oversee the preparation and publication of ESG reports and disclosures, ensuring they meet regulatory and stakeholder requirements and industry best practices. Set clear expectations for collection of audit-ready data across the organization.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess ESG-related risks, impacts and opportunities. Develop due diligence strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities to enhance the company’s ESG performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Change Management: Work closely with other departments throughout the organization to facilitate change and integrate ESG considerations into various aspects of the business.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze ESG performance metrics. Use data to drive improvements and demonstrate progress toward ESG goals.
  • Compliance and Advocacy: Ensure compliance with relevant ESG regulations and standards. Advocate for best practices and innovative approaches to ESG within the company and the broader industry. Engage with industry trade and stakeholder groups to stay abreast of evolving regulations and inform policy development.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to employees and supply chain partners on ESG issues and practices. Foster a culture of sustainability and ethical behavior within the organization.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Develop partnerships with service providers, external organizations, NGOs, and industry groups to advance ESG initiatives and leverage external expertise and resources.

Our Best Fit Candidate Would Have

  • Minimum 10-15 years working experience, including at least 3 years of managerial experience
  • Proven experience and success in ESG, risk management and related fields
  • In-depth knowledge of ESG principles, evolving regulation, developing industry standards, and relevant reporting frameworks
  • Prior experience in a global fashion/apparel business (or other consumer products company) and experience with Asia manufacturing is required.  
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, sustainability/environmental science, public policy or a related field. Advanced degrees (MBA, JD, etc.) are a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and manage the financial and reputational impact of ESG execution. Effective in identifying optimization options and balancing trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing a team and engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to articulate vision and strategy, and demonstrate leadership
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with proven execution excellence

Salary Range: $225,000 -$265,000

Our job postings include an annual base salary range at the time of employment. The stated base salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on several factors, including the selected candidate's educational and professional experience, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. Base salary is a part of a total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, annual bonus and other Centric Brands sponsored benefit programs.
