Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist to support daily import compliance operations and ensure adherence to U.S. Customs regulations. This role works closely with internal teams, customs brokers, and external partners to facilitate accurate and timely processing of import entries, tariff classifications, and regulatory documentation. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our import compliance program and supporting operational workflows across logistics, sourcing, and compliance teams. This position is based in Greensboro, NC and requires a consistent in-person presence to support operational workflows, documentation review, and collaboration with internal teams.
Perform daily oversight of customs entry filings for assigned accounts to ensure timely and accurate processing.
Examine import documentation for regulatory compliance; identify discrepancies and coordinate directly with customs brokers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes across a broad range of commodities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to U.S. Customs regulations.
Review and validate HTS classifications using Open Purchase Order and New Material Creation reports, working with internal teams to confirm product specifications when needed.
Support day-to-day customs compliance operations on-site, including documentation verification, issue resolution, and follow-up on pending entries.
Assist with duty drawback activities, including data gathering, documentation preparation, and coordination with internal departments.
Generate and analyze compliance reports using the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system to monitor import activity and identify potential risks or discrepancies.
Provide in-person support and guidance to logistics, sourcing, and compliance teams regarding import documentation requirements and tariff classifications.
Maintain organized records and documentation to support internal audits, regulatory inquiries, and compliance reviews.
Participate in cross-functional collaboration with supply chain, purchasing, finance, and compliance teams to support efficient import operations.
Perform additional compliance-related tasks, operational support activities, and special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience in customs compliance, international trade, or import operations will be considered.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience or familiarity with SAP, PLM systems, and Infor Nexus is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification and U.S. import regulations is preferred.
Strong team player with the ability to work closely with on-site cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues.
Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy, documentation integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated ability to perform well under pressure and meet critical deadlines in a high-volume import environment.
Flexibility to work overtime and adjust schedules as necessary to support shipment timelines and operational needs.
Ability to work consistently on-site and maintain a regular in-person presence to support compliance operations and team collaboration.
Willingness to travel occasionally, as required.
