Overall Responsibilities
Development Execution
•Execute fabric development requests based on direction from the NY team.
•Coordinate with mills to develop fabrics according to provided specifications, performance requirements, and timelines.
•Track and follow up on lab dips, strike-offs, handlooms, and sample yardage submissions.
Mill Coordination
•Act as the primary day-to-day contact with nominated mills and vendors in Asia.
•Communicate technical requirements clearly and ensure mills understand construction, yarn, and finishing expectations.
•Follow up on development progress, troubleshoot delays, and escalate issues to NY when needed.
•Maintain and regularly update fabric cost information from key mills based on ongoing developments and seasonal changes.
Fabric Analysis & Validation
•Conduct fabric analysis including construction, composition, weight, gauge, count, stretch, etc.
•Request and review test reports to ensure fabrics meet required standards.
•Flag risks or inconsistencies and support troubleshooting with mills and the NY team.
Sample & Timeline Management
•Maintain development timelines and ensure on-time submission of all fabric submits
•Track multiple fabric programs and provide regular status updates to the NY team.
•Ensure accuracy of development submissions before sending to NY for review.
Production Support
•Assist in transitioning approved fabrics into bulk production.
•Support issue resolution related to fabric quality, performance, or consistency.
•Coordinate with mills on corrective actions as directed.
Other tasks/projects assigned by the leaders
Additional Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science or related field preferred.
-8+ working experience years preferred for fabric sourcing focus, in which 3–5 years of experience in technical fabric development or textile manufacturing.
-Solid understanding of knit and woven constructions, yarns, and finishing processes.
-Experience working with textile mills in Asia.
-Familiarity with fabric testing standards (AATCC, ASTM, ISO).
-Fluent in English.
Preferred Skills
•Experience with performance knit fabrics (moisture wicking, stretch, thermal regulation, etc.).
•Supporting global teams across time zones.
•Basic knowledge of sustainability standards and certifications.
